Shaft tip
Collar
Collared — Gives precise alignment on any shaft, and on graphite shafts also adds a protective plastic cushion between the shaft and the metal hosel. Works great when the hosel's inner lip is countersunk; if it isn't, a collared ferrule can be tricky to seat flush.
Non-Collared — Seats flush regardless of whether the hosel is countersunk, since there's no lip to clear, but can be harder to align dead center.
